Week 2

Pantry & Fridge

We are starting in the kitchen! Empty your pantry and fridge, focusing on one shelf at a time. Set your timer for 15 minutes, grab a large trash bag, and get to work with no interruptions! Toss anything that has expired. Take a good look at what remains and be honest with yourself. Did you buy it on a whim? Are you really going to use it before the expiration date? If you have unopened items that you don’t think you will use, consider donating them to a local food bank.

As you make your way through each shelf during this week, set aside all items nearing expiration. At the end of the week, plan next week’s meals around these ingredients. You will save money on groceries and use up some items that may have otherwise expired!

When you put things back, try to group items in “zones” for easy retrieval. For example, have a spot for grains, breakfast items, snacks, lunch items, etc. Inexpensive baskets are a great way to store like items together and they make it easy to maintain an organized space!
